Born Spontaneously into the Primordial State

Updated: May 31

The paradox of the natural state lies in the tension between the utter completeness that already exists within us and the total effortlessness needed to experientially realize and live this.

Awakening is about insight and clear seeing, whereas liberation is about digesting conditioning, solidity and karma. Awakening brings disidentification from karmic mind. Liberation transforms the experience of mind in a visceral, dynamic and energetic manner and gives birth to universal expression.

Liberation sounds like a process, and in a way it is — until it’s not.

Liberation is biological and otherworldly, human and alien, surreal and ordinary. Nothing actually transforms because reality is not real. The only thing there ever is is freedom, no matter how the experience feels like.

As long as we traverse the wheel of time, moving from one psychological realm to another, we live the paradigm of karma. Ordinary mental events obscure the innate wakefulness of our true nature, just like clouds apparently obscure the radiance of the sun. The natural spontaneity is blocked by karmic impulsion, and until a fundamental break through occurs, we have no idea how mechanical our state is.

99% of thinking, feeling and behavior that we imagine to express “what we are” is nothing but these ordinary mental events, dictated by social conventions and cultural programming. Spirituality is of course nothing but another set of programs. If it works it begins to generate extraordinary mental events — such as expansiveness, bliss, vividness, absence of thought — which can then be mistaken for awakening.

If you are lucky it’s the kind of programming that will deprogram you, but eventually you must cut though all forms of spiritual materialism, again and again. You must cut through even the idea of cutting through. There is really no way to even remotely intuit how thorough this act of destruction is.

When you enter the path, karma becomes the goddess Kali. Karma brings you in touch with streams of transmission that introduce the mind to its true nature. Karma brings you to that which transcends karma: unitary timeless recognition.

A recognition that is so nondual and complete that you don’t even know you have it.

Awake.

Cannot be spoken about!!!

The natural state: uncaused, unconditioned, primordially pure.

Spread the wings of natural spontaneity

Try to find the original cause of karmic entanglement. You can’t. Try to find solution within that paradigm. You can’t. The conditions can be improved, yes, but that will not bring true satisfaction, because you are operating within the paradigm of cause and effect and that kind of satisfaction is always conditions based.

Just exit.

When we come to the end of our rope, when we realize there is nothing the “I” can do, no answer, no solution, no remedy, no escape, no hope — that’s it.

Just relax.

No path.

Instant, complete and superb.

A timeless severance at the root of existential grasping.

Born spontaneously into the primordial state.

Not everyone has the good fortune to be trapped in and suffer in hell and hungry ghost realms so thoroughly that a possibility of exit appears.

When the opening appeared in my life I had already lost everything, I had suffered so intensely that I had come to a point of suicidal desperation, so when the exit appeared, I did not hesitate: I jumped.

It was karma that brought me to that point, so it’s not really a choice.

We came to nirvana by the ways of samsara.

It’s very natural. I think the teachings are sometimes so complex that they blind us from the ridiculous simplicity of it.

Liberation is not about crossing some final line, it’s not about becoming some sort of “liberated being”.

Liberation is a way of spontaneous functioning, celebration of the nature of the Mind.

That effortless jump — fundamental letting go — never really ends. That’s the cool thing about the natural state: you learn to spread the wings of natural spontaneity and re-discover the space endlessly afresh. Karma becomes a way the space penetrates into itself.

Karma is nothing other than liberation. Samsara is nirvana.

The causes and conditions are empty: not just empty of self, but empty of any fixed reality. This is when karma starts to become very interesting. This is when the mechanical quality of reactive thought begins to morph. When you get under it, it’s not what it seems: a thought becomes fluid, transparent, vivid; a shapeshifting form of energy, light, release.

Contraction is letting go. Tension is effortless relaxation. This unitary experience is like a snake endlessly uncoiling its own knots.

The Great Perfection.

When your capacity to assimilate the whole spectrum of reality — which includes especially the dark and rejected aspects of collective human shadow — expands, that can feel painful. Just like physical growth is often painful for the body.

As this otherworldly organism of interconnected space majestically breaths, it suffuses the mind with sublime ease. Organically responsive and utterly empty, it gently devours each moment.

Liberation is absolute conviction, automatic engagement, commitment that is spontaneously refreshed, again and again.

The exit becomes a ceaseless entrance.
